Meet Sam and Steve – The Gang Show Directors
Regular visitors to the Hastings Gang Show will have watched each of our Gang Show Directors perform on stage over the years. Both started their Gang Show careers as young cast members, performing their way through to the production team.
Sam the youngest and best looking member of the Directors! Sam joined the Gang in 2002 as a young Ranger Guide, then joined the production team in 2013. Outside her Gang Show life, Sam has performed in many local productions such as Aida, King & I, she also played Kathy, in Disco Inferno and Winnie, in Annie Get your Gun. Sam also worked as a professional entertainer for Haven between 2006 & 2011.
Steve’s first role was to play a brown mouse in the school nativity play at the age of 5. A few years later, Steve appeared in his first Gang Show in 1983 (hard to believe, but he is actually older than he looks!). In 1992, Steve represented the Hastings Gang and performed in the 60th anniversary Gang Show in London. He has also featured in several local productions, such as Chess, Copacabana and played Tommy, in the Blods production of Annie Get Your Gun
Sally is our Cast co-ordinator & secretary.
Sally has been with the show for the past 7 years and has supported the show when her daughter was appearing on stage. Sally has an important job every year communicating all the info to all of us and keeping tabs on the ever increasing cast size. Besides all her other tasks, Sally has the important task of running our rehearsal tuck shop. Sally is very excited to be a part of this year’s gang show and is looking forward to another successful year.
Louise – Wardrobe
As our new wardrobe mistress, Louise has the job of costuming over 4000 different changes for every cast member every year. She has been with us for the past 4 years, but takes on this new role this year as our wardrobe & costume designer. Louise has been involved with the Gang show for over 10 years as a chaperone, fund raiser and active parent.
Mark has been part of the gang on stage for the past 10 years and has also helped the production team for the last few. Mark has been our Techie now for several years. He looks after the website, backstage area, music, scripts, projections and anything Sam and Steve throw at him!
Kim has joined the chaperone team in the last few years and is an asset we cannot function without. She is rarely seen on stage but have our children safe and in the right place at the right time! This year the chaperone team is over 40 strong! Kim wishes everyone a happy show this year.
