Sam’s love for theatre started at a young age but her first appearance onstage was as a 17 year old Ranger, in the Hastings Gang Show! Since then, Sam has performed various roles in many amateur dramatic shows in Hastings and Bexhill: Sister Act, Disco Inferno , Annie Get your Gun and Shrek the Musical to name a few! Since 2002, Sam has been a part of the Hastings Gang Show every year - performing on stage and chaperoning backstage. Sam has been the Beaver Leader at 3rd Hastings Scout troop since 2005, and therefore was approached to produce the Beaver item in the Hastings Gang Show in 2012. Her knowledge of how to control a group of excitable Beavers, and experience in performing arts made her the perfect person! Sam has been a part of the Production Team ever since, taking on a full Producer role in 2014, alongside Steve and the team of producers at the time. In 2016, Sam and Steve became the Gang Show duo we simply couldn’t be without!
“One of my favourite parts about being a producer for the Hastings Gang Show is being able to give children the chance to perform on stage and seeing them grow in confidence throughout rehearsals”
Steve has been on stage since the age of 5, where he appeared as the brown mouse in his school nativity. Like Sam, Steve has also appeared in several am-dram performances, including Coppacabana, Annie Get Your gun, Jekyll and Hyde, Sister Act, Producers and Made in Dagenham.
Steve’s first ever Gang Show was in 1983 as a Scout. He performed in the well known Gang Show sketch ‘If I were not upon this stage’ (Google it!). He was approached by the Hastings Gang Show founder, Eric Stokes, in 1993 to join the production team… and let’s just say the rest is history!
Steve took his talent for producing to new heights in 2021, when he took on the role of Assistant Director for Blods production of Shrek the Musical.
“Producing the Hastings Gang Show is a privilege as each year I watch with admiration as our young cast grow in confidence and talent through rehearsals to the main stage. An enriching and growing experience which they cherish and reflect on into their adult live”
